We had the privilege of traveling here to capture the essence of the city for our Spring '23 campaign, the DIYA Collection, and discovered along the way countless incredible places that I'm excited to share with you in this travel guide to Marrakech.

Saadian Tombs

“For the historical sites, I love Saadian Tombs. It is the unconditional statement of how the Moors are the origin of Andalucia’s extraordinary cultural heritage, in terms of architecture, design and aesthetics. When the Spanish went to America and influenced its old architecture, the style called “Spanish colonial”, marked by courtyards and fountains was actually inspired by Morocco based on chronological facts”. - Merryanne Loum, owner of Jnane Tamsna.

Musée de l’Art et de la Parure

This captivating museum is a treasure trove of art and adornment. Their exquisite collection of jewelry, textiles, and decorative arts showcased the rich jewelry heritage of every part of the world, and each artifact was a testament to the skilled artisans who created them.

TIPS

Get the Music Playlist from Riad Sakkan on Spotify to get in the mood when packing for your trip;

Transportation: The best way to explore Marrakech is by car or with a guide. With your own vehicle, you can reach remote places that are relatively poorly connected. There are many Moroccan car rental companies, such as Medloc Maroc, where you can negotiate better prices.

What to wear: Morocco is a Muslim country, and you should follows these tips to dress accordingly in Marrakech: Avoid unnecessarily slinky dresses and only show as little bare skin as possible. Kimonos, Pants, Long Dresses and Headwraps are most welcome.

Money and currency: Moroccan legislation rules that it’s illegal to bring Moroccan currency into the country. Although this law is mainly aimed at business travelers, it applies to tourists too. There are currency exchange offices, banks, and ATMs, so you will be fine using credit/debit cards.

Make sure you check Moroccan holidays before booking your trip here.
