Lama Monachile, Puglia, Italy

Lama Monachile, nestled in Puglia, Italy, is a hidden coastal treasure renowned for its unique charm. Enclosed by limestone cliffs, this small beach boasts clear turquoise waters and a distinctive rocky inlet. Its name, "Lama Monachile," translates to "Monk's Leap," alluding to the monks who, as legends tell, used to dive from the cliffs into the sea. This cove is an inviting destination for sunseekers, swimmers, and those captivated by the history and allure of Italy's coastal beauty. I discovered this beach last month and for the first time I got to jump off cliffs into the Adriatic sea; memories I will never forget.

Goree Island, Senegal

Goree Island, off the coast of Senegal, is a poignant and historically significant destination. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this small island served as a center for the transatlantic slave trade. Today, its colorful streets, colonial architecture, and cultural landmarks stand as a reminder of the island's troubled past. Visitors can explore museums and monuments that pay homage to the resilience of the human spirit while also enjoying the island's vibrant local culture and stunning ocean views. Goree Island offers a deeply moving experience that combines history, reflection, and the enduring spirit of Senegal. Growing up this used to be a common destination for our school trips and weekend getaways.
